The Pen Project®

is a publication that gives a voice to the incarcerated and those at-risk by offering a way to share their artwork, creative writing, and other purposeful contributions intended to encourage and inspire life-change within its readers. The Pen Project operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
Our goal is to make The Pen Project available to each of the 6.8 million men, women and youth who are navigating the U.S. Justice System because every number has a name, every name has a story, and every story matters to God.

"The Pen Project has given us a constructive and positive outlet to express ourselves."
- Eric / Inmate

We receive mailed submissions from inmates across the country. The creative abilities of those submitting to this magazine are remarkable and rival mainstream art publications. Below are some examples of content submissions, many of which are already in print.
